Sheppey RFC take on new Kent 1 champions Dartfordians at The Ditch on Saturday, believing they can put a dampener on the Darts’ celebrations.
Dartfordians clinched the title with their 26-12 victory over Cranbrook last Saturday but, at the same time, Sheppey were recording their seventh win in their last nine league games with a 23-7 success at third-placed Guy's Hospital.
Sheppey coach Frank Davis (pictured) said: "I know Dartfordians have beaten us twice already this season but the word has got around that we are a different side from earlier in the season.
"There will be no pressure, we are safe now and the boys will be able to express themselves."
Alex Nicholls scored two tries against Guy's, the first coming after just five minutes. Bradley Box missed the conversion but later added a penalty to give Sheppey an 8-0 half-time lead.
Guy's hit back with a converted try straight after the restart but Sheppey produced the perfect response, with Steve Croall forcing his way over for an unconverted try after the visitors had applied immediate pressure from the restart.
Box then increased Sheppey’s lead to 16-7 with another penalty and the side wrapped up victory when Nicholls went over for his second try, converted by Box.
