A charity shop manager has slammed thieves who stole dozens of DVDs.

Oxfam in High Street, Sheerness, received a donation of about 60 films on Friday, April 12.

Manager Mick Constable and his staff put them out on the display unit to sell at £1.99 the following day.

They were shocked to find more than 30 had been stolen by close of play.

Mr Constable thinks they had been swiped throughout the day while staff were busy dealing with customers or re-stocking the shelves or clothing rails.

He said the thefts have deprived the charity of at least £60, which is the equivalent of providing four wells in third world countries.

“It’s absolutely disgusting,” he said. “We were delighted to receive the DVDs, as we are with all donations from people who want to help others.

“There were some really good titles in there so we knew they would sell and raise money.

“I looked at the shelf and noticed how many were gone. I checked the till receipts, which log the different items sold, and only three had actually been bought.”

Mr Constable said they also found some empty clothing hangers suggesting other items had been taken too.

The store was also targeted by thieves in May 2010. They smashed the door and took the charity collection, cash and other items.
