The Sittingbourne driver beat two-time world rally champion Marcus Gronholm in the final of the Super Rally.

It was an astonishing comeback for the 24-year-old Citreon driver who has started the weekend last place in the standings after timed practice.

Doran said: "To follow in the footsteps of sporting legends such as Travis Pastrana and other drivers such as Tanner Foust and Kenny Brack, all gold medalists at this event, is awesome."

The second day saw Doran’s hopes of a second gold medal ended as he hit a wall. He returns to the European Rallycross Championship this weekend in Belgium.
