A dog who was found wandering the streets weighing half of what she should be also had pneumonia.
Yuzu, now known as Liza, was rescued in Sheerness after being found wandering the streets.
After being found by the dog warden she was taken to Valgrays Border Collie and Animal Rescue.
Staff didn't realise just how poorly she was until a rapid decline two days later when she had to be taken to the emergency vet.
As well as dropping to an all time low weight of 14.4kg, a virus was ravaging her body resulting in thick green snot and a raspy cough.
The vet later confirmed that she had pneumonia.
The dog warden said: "It's crazy how much this sweetheart has had to fight just to survive.
"Thankfully, she's now home with a much better prognosis than when she started. She's a real fighter and we're behind her the whole way.
"Liza doesn't just represent the cruelty of man, she's also a beacon of hope.
"We pray that seeing her gentle nature in the face of such adversity will help in some way diminish the stigma surrounding bull breed dogs."
