A stubborn swan caused traffic havoc on a major road this morning.
The Sheppey Crossing was temporarily closed while officers were called to rescue the bird, which had settled down for a rest in the middle of the carriageway.
A police chase of a different kind then ensued, with the swan spotted waddling along the side of the road, trying to evade capture.

Kent Police Swale later tweeted to say: "The Sheppey Crossing is now open again after being temporarily closed. No swanning about please, we don't wing it."
It is the second time in a week that a road had be shut while swans were recovered.
A family, including six cygnets, were rescued from the M20 on Friday, after being seen waddling down the dual carriageway. Swans occasionally land on busy carriageways.
The RSPB believes thermals and wind turbulence over roads may knock the swans off balance and bring them down onto road surfaces.
They need a long run before taking flight, and may be unable to take off if there is insufficient space.
