Law, sociology and citizenship students will be visiting Westminster this summer after meeting Baroness Floella Benjamin.
The former children’s television presenter visited the Isle of Sheppey Academy’s west site in Jefferson Road, Sheerness, to talk to A-level students about the House of Lords.
Head of sixth form Victoria Standing said: “Students were particularly keen to hear of Baroness Benjamin’s career progression and of her experiences of debates in the House of Lords since her elevation to the peerage in 2010.
“She responded to questions on the subject of reform of the House of Lords by inviting students to write to her with their own suggestions for reform, an opportunity that many have already taken up.”
Shannon Eastoe, a Year 12 student, described the visit as “eye-opening”.
