A minute’s silence was held at a football match in memory of murdered teacher Carl Davies.
Sittingbourne-based Albany FC were presented with a new kit by Stadium Sports at the Co-op Club sports ground, St George’s Avenue, Sheerness, on Sunday.
The new strip, which has “Justice for Carl Davies” across the back, is a reward for winning the fair play award last season by virtue of having the fewest yellow cards.
Albany was hosted by Red Hearts FC, a charity side which raises money for the British Heart Foundation.
The Sittingbourne team won the match 3-1 with goals from Macauley Smith, Scott Chapel and Tom Martin. Joe Cole scored for the home team.
Albany secretary Laura Hollick said: “It was basically a friendly and it turned out a lot of the players knew Carl so between us we organised a minute’s silence.”
The 33-year-old, of Harrier Drive, Sittingbourne, was killed on the Indian Ocean island of Reunion on November 9, 2011.
Several men arrested over his death are yet to go on trial.
The former Royal Marine, who previously taught at the Oasis Isle of Sheppey Academy and Sittingbourne Community College, was working as a maritime security guard at the time of his death.
