A girl of 13 was taken to hospital after being involved in a fight in Sheerness.
One witness said she was set upon by another girl in the middle of a mob of up to 40 youngsters.
The attack happened in Beachfields near the skateboard park on Saturday afternoon.
It is believed the fight was filmed on mobile phones.
A police spokesman said: "We were called at 2pm to a report that a girl had been assaulted by a group of other young people in Beach Street, Sheerness.
"Officers attended but those responsible had left the scene.
"The victim attended hospital for treatment but was not seriously injured.
"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
Eye-witness Jessica Lees said: "There was a huge fight at the skate park in Sheerness.
"There were about 30-40 kids jumping on one girl and there were children recording this fight.
"I just hope the girl is OK. She was only about 14 or 15 and looked pretty beat up."
She added: "We tried to stop her and keep her with us till the police arrived but she just wanted to go home."
It was reported a boy who went to break up the fight was punched.
But a mother, who did not want to be named, said her son had seen the fight and insisted only two girls, both aged 13, were involved.
She said she believed the fight had been 'pre-arranged'.
Another boy said: "It was a one-on-one fight there and like 10 other kids. No one else jumped in."
