Teenager in custody after alleged sex assault in Minster

A teenager has been released on bail after being arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a girl in Minster.

The 16-year-old was taken into custody by officers yesterday morning as he was walking in the village.

It comes after a girl aged 13 reported being attacked by a man while she was waiting for a bus outside Minster Library at around 7.15am on Monday.

The victim’s mother took to social media to warn other parents and youngsters about a man, who she described as around 5ft 7ins and wearing baggy tracksuit bottoms.

She said a "kind lady" walking to work had stopped to help her daughter, adding: "Please tell your kiddies to be ultra aware, especially this time of year where it’s so dark."

It was later alleged that another young woman was the victim of an attempted sexual assault in the alley next to Minster Library in Worcester Close, by a man, although the incident is not thought to have been reported.
