While school's out there's plenty to keep everyone occupied in Sittingbourne and Sheppey throughout the Easter holidays. From scavenger hunts to Nerf wars, here's our round-up of what to get up to.
A weekend of free Easter family fun is planned at The Sweet Hut on The Leas in Minster. Judging for an Easter bonnet contest on Easter Saturday, April 20, starts at 2pm and youngsters can meet the Easter Bunny and get their face painted from noon to 3pm. A children's Easter trail will be set up from 11am to 4pm on the Saturday and Easter Sunday, April 21.
Sittingbourne’s Steam Railway will be running across the whole Easter weekend. Trips will run hourly from 11am to 4pm on Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, April 22. There will also be an Easter egg hunt on the Sunday. Fares cost £7 for adults, £3.50 for children aged three to 15, and those under three travel for free. The Appleyard Sports Club, formerly UKP Leisure in Sittingbourne, will be holding an Easter Egg-stravaganza on Easter Monday. Each child who takes part in the scavenger hunt will get a chocolate egg. Whiteleaf Animal Farm and Creepy Claws will also be bringing their animals along, there will be a fun fair, craft stalls, face painting and more. The fun day will run from 10am to 4pm. Sheppey Miniature Engineering and Model Society will be running trains at Bartons Point Coastal Park in Sheerness throughout the Easter break. Weather permitting, they will run on Saturday, April 13, Sunday, April 14, Wednesday, April 17, Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. It costs £1 per person, per ride and every child who rides a train on Easter Sunday will get a sweet cone. For more, click here.
There will be an egg hunt for children at Bredgar and Wormshill Light Railway’s first open day of the season – on Easter Sunday. The day will include unlimited trips in the vintage-style railway carriages hauled by historic locomotives. The first train will be at 11am, the last will be at 4.30pm. Entry costs £10 for adults, £4 for children aged three to 15, and under threes go free. Family tickets (two adults and up to three children) cost £25. For more, click here.
Sheppey Leisure Complex will be hosting its very own Nerf war games on Wednesday, April 17. The first session will be held from 2pm to 3pm, and the second from 3pm to 4pm. It costs £7 per child. To book, call 01795 668061.
Milton Creek Country Park will be holding an Easter Rocks event on Tuesday, April 16, from 10am until noon. There will be a range of crafts for all to take part in including painting rocks. The event is free of charge, any donations will be put towards future events and installations around the park.
