Three youngsters arrested over lorry arson attack

Three children have been arrested in connection with a suspected arson attack on a trailer of a lorry.

It happened at a lorry yard in Brielle Way, Sheerness, at about 6pm on Monday.

A cabin on the rear of an HGV trailer had been set alight and was destroyed by the blaze.

Officers from the Island Neighbourhood Team discovered the fire and alerted Sheppey Fire and Rescue.

Two crews, one from Sheerness and one from Queenborough, attended.

A spokesman said: “It was completely destroyed when we got there so we just put out the remnants of what was left.

“Luckily there was nothing around nearby that the fire could have spread to.”

The youngsters, aged 10, 12 and 13, have not yet been charged.
