A thug threw his girlfriend's puppy across a room, tried to strangle her and knocked a double-amputee out of his wheelchair during a drunken rage.
Peter Norman, 36, has been given an extended jail sentence of 56 months following the outburst of violence, which happened as he was drinking in Queenborough, Sheppey.
Maidstone Crown Court heard he and his girlfriend – who he had been with for three years despite a history of domestic abuse – were at Steve Andrews' home on October 25 along with two others.
All were drinking and it was estimated Norman had downed a litre of vodka when be became confrontational.
Ben Wild, prosecuting, told Maidstone Crown Court: "Norman became increasingly aggressive, and at one point at Mr Andrews and asking for £6,000.
He allegedly became jealous and stormed out, only to be persuaded to return.
Norman's girlfriend went to sleep, but was woken up as Mr Andrews – who is a double amputee – saw the thug hit her eight-month-old puppy.
Mr Wild said: "He said he saw the defendant pick the dog up and throw it out of the room. Mr Andrews said he then called out Norman."
The defendant – now of Guisborough in North Yorkshire, but formerly from Queenborough – then called Mr Andrews a cripple and a s*****c.
Norman began scuffling with his girlfriend, and hit her head against a radiator, causing her to vomit.
Mr Wild went on: "He then punched her on the nose, grabbing her arms and attempting to strangle her with his hands around her throat."
"She was heard to say 'I can't breathe' before being thrown to the floor and Mr Andrews is then thrown out of his wheelchair."
'In drink and in a domestic context you are a jealous and violent man, prone to and unable to stop yourself from causing serious harm'
The prosecutor said that, as police arrived, Norman was on the phone to his partner, threatening to terrorise her.
Norman, who admitted intentionally strangulation, assault and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, received an immediate 32-month jail sentence.
The judge added another two years which will be served on licence when he is released.
Judge Oliver Saxby KC told him: "I am not satisfied that you truly regret what happened.
