She might be only seven years old but Tilly Monahan has already gone to great lengths for charity.
The All Saints, Eastchurch pupil, from Leysdown, on Sheppey, had 17 inches of her long blonde locks lopped off for the Little Princess Trust.
Her proud dad, John Monahan, said: “She came home one day and said she wanted to have her hair cut.
“We thought she meant a trim but she said ‘No, I want to cut it all off and give it to children who haven’t got hair because they have cancer’.”
Tilly’s grandad, Michael Doyle, lived with the family in Leysdown before he died aged 63 in November last year, having been diagnosed with oesophagus cancer in 2018.
“It’s been tough,” said John. “Tilly was very close to her grandad.”
“She was counting down the days before she could get her hair cut,” he added. “She was so excited.”
Her long blonde hair was reduced to a bob at Cut and Glow in Leysdown by stylist Stacy Thorne.
Tilly, who has three siblings, Kaylam, 22, Morgan, 18 and Taya, 13, was also sponsored to brave the scissors and, so far, she has raised more than £500 for the trust.
“She was brilliant,” John said. “She wants it to grow so she can do it all over again.”
The money will go towards covering the cost of making a wig for a child undergoing treatment.
