THE Times Guardian has joined forces with the Rotary Club of Minster-on-Sea to donate money to Island groups.

Both the STG and the rotary club have been raising money throughout the year, and have now got together to share out £3,000.

Any organisation on the Island can write to us and state in no more than 200 words why they deserve a grant of up to a maximum of £200.

A committee of representatives from the STG and the rotary club will decide which causes they feel are most deserving.

The Times Guardian raised money through the Round the Island Jazz Cruise and the STG 150 Ale, which was on sale in the Aviator pub from May to November.

Both were part of our 150th anniversary celebrations this year.

The Rotary Club of Minster-on-Sea raised its share of the money from the beer festival it organised in the summer.

Times Guardian editor Matt Ramsden said: “We are absolutely delighted to join forces with the Rotary Club of Minster-on-Sea.

“By joining together we are convinced we can do some real good for groups on the Island.”

Mike Brown, president of the rotary club, said: “We raised the money locally and we feel we want to spend it on the Island. We are looking for local projects and we want to give the money back to the community that helped us raise the money.”

Send your application to Community Chest, 44 High Street, Sheerness, ME12 1NL, by 5pm on Thursday, January 15. All recipients of money must agree to full publicity.
