Sheppey's favourite rodent Moo Mop Mouse has fallen foul of Mark Zuckerberg and the giant Facebook corporation.

One of Moo Mop's posts has been banned from Dawn Cockburn's Positive Life on the Isle of Sheppey social media page. But Facebook won't tell her why or what it was.

Dawn, 71, who also founded the Harmony Therapy Trust charity, said: "They told me the post violated their standards and went against their ethics. But there is no way I can challenge them to ask why it was removed. I am aghast. I truly do not understand what this is all about.

"Nothing that MooMop posts is bad, wrong, or otherwise, any more than I am. What on earth is going on? It's absolutely nonsense."

The former house conveyancer added: "I have no idea what this is about as I can't even see the offending post. Facebook has threatened to shut down my group, which has more than 8,000 members, or remove me as administrator if I do it again. But I don't know what I've done. It's absurd. It's a nightmare."

For a while, she thought the offending post was a 3min 17sec video featuring a montage of photos of youngsters discovering the Moo Mop mini murals scattered across the Island.

Even Moo Mop's mystery creator admitted it could have been pulled because of the high number of young children. He added that there might have been copyright issues with the backing track Tomorrow from the musical Annie. He said: "The music may have been a red flag. I downloaded it legally but I'm not sure if I can use it."

However, the video is still available to see.

Moo Mop's artist, who has remained anony-mouse since his paintings began appearing last year, added: "Social media has some funny rules but there are bigger things to worry about."

Sittingbourne mum-of-two Becki Breiner had a similar run-in with Facebook in 2018 when Sony banned her from using backing music on her sing and sign videos to promote sign language. She has since won special clearance.

Facebook had to apologise last month after it banned "Plymouth Hoe" because it said the word "hoe" could be mistaken for a lady of the night.

Facebook has been asked for a comment on the Moo Mop Mouse mystery.
