A town centre road which runs alongside the beach is to shut overnight.

Broadway in Sheerness, Sheppey near the High Street, is a popular place for beachgoers on the Island and will be closed for two nights this week.

The road, which is the home of the Sheppey Leisure Complex and Sheerness Swimming Pool, is to close on October 3 and October 4 – between 8pm and 5am

It is due to resurfacing work being carried out by Kent County Council (KCC).

Broadway will be closed between Trinity Road and Meyrick Road.

The alternative route for traffic heading west towards Tesco, is via Marine Parade, The Broadway, B2008 Minster Road, A2500 Halfway Road, High Street, Trinity Road and Trinity Way.

For vehicles heading towards Minster, alternative routes are via A250 Trinity Road, Invicta Road, High Street, Halfway Road, B2008 Minster Road, The Broadway and Marine Parade.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
