A popular Island radio presenter has died.
Sheppey FM’s Chris Luck, known as Little Kris, passed away at the weekend.
The former Sheerness taxi driver had been a member of the broadcast team for three years, drawing listeners from as far away as America to his weekday Soul Show.
Julie Nicholls, the community station’s project manager, said: “It’s a massive shock – we’re absolutely devastated.
“Sheppey FM is like a family, we’ve lost a friend and a brother.
“He did so much, he was a superb presenter, did production and was the station’s head of music.
“Listeners called him the Soul Man and I’ve spoken to people in America who are in tears about the news.
“Chris’s death has hit us like a steam train, we’re still reeling from it.”
Mr Luck, who lived in Queenborough and was 54, reportedly died on Sunday.
The circumstances surrounding his death are not yet fully-known, but it’s believed to have been as a result of natural causes.
Friends said he retired as a taxi driver to become a full-time carer for his wife, Sue.
He was a keen fundraiser and during his time as a cabbie, helped collect money for charity as part of a Full Monty campaign.
Fellow Sheppey FM presenter, Mick Kenten, said: “Chris was a good, loyal friend for 35 years.
“I got into local radio because of him, it’s so tragic.
“I only talked to him a couple of days ago because we had so many plans for the station where he was a Jack of all trades and so good at his job.
“Me and him would always rip it out of each other – even on air. I’m going to miss that, losing him has left such a hole. Everyone at the station is gutted, we’re going to need a mop for all the tears.”
Mr Luck’s granddaughter, Corrie, is also a presenter at the station.
