Sheppey are facing two testing away games before the Christmas break, but gave their confidence a timely boost with a massive victory at the weekend.
Peter Olliver’s side demolished London 3 South East bottom club Crawley 91-0 at Stupple Field, running in 15 tries, and after three successive league defeats it was just the response Olliver was looking for ahead of trips to Folkestone - who have won nine of their 10 league matches - on Saturday and then Medway on December 17.
Olliver, voted Coach of the Year at the Active Swale Sports Awards last Friday, said: "The game was a bit tight for the first 20 minutes but I noticed that Crawley’s centres were not strong in the tackle, so I told our boys to start punching through the middle and then the floodgates opened."
No.8 Dylan Davies, who hadn’t scored a single touchdown this season, led the rout with five as Sheppey bagged one of their biggest-ever wins in league rugby.
Winger Chris Bain, who has missed the last two games because of an ankle injury, will have a fitness test in training ahead of the Folkestone game.
