A YOUNG woman and a man who died following separate road crashes only a few miles apart have been identified.

One victim was a young female teaching assistant and the other a restaurateur.

Badruz Zaman, 41, of Minster Road, Minster, who owned Mr India in Halfway, Sheerness, died at the Medway Maritime Hospital at Gillingham, shortly after his Nissan Micra overturned in Jenkins Hill, between Eastchurch and Leysdown on Friday. He leaves a wife and two children.

Jody Clulow, 23, of Oak Lane, Minster, died in Brielle Way, Sheerness, after the silver Subaru Impreza in which she was travelling collided with fencing in the early hours of Sunday.

The 28-year-old male driver, also from Sheppey, was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

Both stretches of road have been described as accident blackspots by campaigners and have seen fatal collisions in the past.

Jody, who worked at Richmond First School, studied on Sheppey and also at Highsted Grammar School in Sittingbourne until the age of 16.

Current head teacher Jennifer Payne said: “Although she left Highsted several years ago, Jody is remembered by staff who taught her as an intelligent and pleasant young woman, with a bright future ahead of her.”
