Stunned shoppers watched as a van burst into flames.

The white vehicle was on fire near the Morrisons roundabout at Neats Court, Queenborough, next to the Aldi distribution centre.

Eyewitness Amy Atouguia-Evans said: "It was awfully scary to drive past. My eldest daughter was really shaken up. I hope everyone got out safely and is OK."

The fire broke out just before noon. Flames and plumes of black smoke could be seen billowing from the vehicle.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to the scene of a vehicle fire near Thomsett Way in Queenborough at around 11.49am. One fire engine was sent to the scene. The fire is now out."
