This shocking dashcam footage shows the moment a driver dangerously drives through traffic cones and undertakes a car on a busy carriageway.

The white van can be seen flying past the vehicle in the right-hand lane, through the traffic cones that were cordoning off the lane on the left over the Sheppey Crossing.

The van then continues to undertake before weaving into the right-hand lane, without indication.

The dangerous manoeuvre – on the Sittingbourne-bound carriageway of the A249 – was captured on another driver’s dashcam.

The left-hand lane of the carriageway was cordoned off across the Sheppey Crossing whilst works were being carried out.

The man who filmed the four-and-a-half minute clip said he was driving home from work yesterday when it happened.

The driver, who did not want to be named, said: “The bridge had a lane coned off and towards the end of the works, a car appears from my left inside the coned off section.”

A police spokesman confirmed the force received a report shortly before 2.30pm on Monday stating a van had been seen driving dangerously through roadworks on the A249 Sittingbourne-bound.

The matter has since been referred to Kent Police’s Traffic Summons department and inquiries into this remain ongoing.
