The waiting is finally over - the competition to find Sheppey's number one pub is underway.

This year, 11 pubs from across the Island have entered the contest to be crowned Sheppey's premier establishment.

Readers will decide which is their favourite by voting via text message or a form in the Times Guardian.

The competition will run for 10 weeks and rivalry between the different pubs is expected to be fierce.

The last time the Times Guardian ran the competition, the Royal Hotel, Sheerness, came out on top.
