Avast! The Sheppey Pirates are on their way to start a huge water-bomb fight in preparation for a world record attempt.
They will be taking over Barton’s Point Coastal Park in Sheerness on Saturday, August 3, and Sunday, August 4, from 11am to 4pm.
The buccaneers will be pitching their tents to show what it is like to live like a pirate with musket ball-making demonstrations, sword fighting, fancy dress competition and cannon and musket fire demonstrations.
From 7pm on Saturday, there will be a party with an open-air disco and live bands at the Marine Parade venue. Music is free but tickets for a hog roast and pint cost £10, some of which will go to the RNLI.
On Sunday the pirates will be joined by the River Rogues from Oxford and possibly the Wight Pirates from the Isle of Wight to unleash their fire power.
After breaking camp, the crews will attempt to land their fleet of rowing boats on the shore of the lake at 1pm, armed with a huge supply of freshly made water bombs.
Children aged up to 13 will be needed to defend the Island from the invasion.
Captain Cutlass warned: “It will get very wet and messy. Anyone of a nervous disposition should stand well back.
“We have held children’s days at Barton’s Point before, but this year we are pulling out all the stops.
“Next year we want to attempt the world record for the biggest water-bomb fight, so we see this as a warm-up.”
