YEE-HA!
The Wild West came to town as members and staff of The Freedom Centre, Sheerness, got into the swing of a country and western themed day.
Cowboy hats and Native American feathered head-dresses were the dress code for the day. The western theme was given an added flavour with a cowboy lunch of burgers, sausages, jacket potatoes and baked beans as well as a line dancing demonstration by staff.
Deputy manager Wendy Harris said: “It went really well and everybody enjoyed it so much that they said they wanted to do another day like it.”
Plans are now afoot to hold a similar day once a month – with the next on a carnival theme.
Members of the centre, which offers activities, friendship and learning opportunities for people with physical disabilities, also got down to the serious business of making craft items for its annual garden party on July 30.
The party, the charity’s largest fundraiser of the year, will include fun and entertainment for all and runs at the centre in St George’s Avenue from 10.30am-2pm.
Admission is free.
