It’s going to be a thriller this weekend when the undead take over Sheerness for the Island’s first Sheppey Zombie Attack.
Organisers have already signed up 900 zombies and a further 2,300 have ‘liked’ the event’s Facebook page.
Spokesman Bertie Crablegs said: “It should be amazing. People are always complaining there isn’t anything to do on Sheppey. Well, they won’t be able to complain after this.”
The event is free and for all ages, although parents should ensure children are accompanied.
Those who have already added their names to the Sheppey Zombie Attack Facebook page should meet at the SEAL (Sheerness Enhanced Association for Leisure) office by K’s Kasino in Neptune Terrace, Marine Parade, Sheerness ME12 2AW at 3.30pm on Saturday ready for a 4pm start.
They will be given a map and told to flee the “infected” area by running or walking to a secret safe compound while being pursued by hordes of brain-hungry specially made-up zombies.
The zombies will try to grab tags from the “uninfected”. Those who lose their tags will join the ranks of the ‘undead’.The race will climax at 6pm with a full-bloodied zombie invasion on the secret compound.
Anyone wishing to be a zombie should add themselves to a separate Sheppey Zombies closed group on Facebook.
Donna Goodall, of the Belle Rose Therapy Centre in the former council offices in Trinity Road, is assembling a team of top make-up artists on Saturday morning for the zombies.
Chris Reed is holding zombie costume distressing workshops on Friday from 2-7pm at the Rose Cottage of Curiosities in Rose Street, Sheerness.
She said: “Bring your costume or old shirt and we will provide all the other materials including latex, paints and blood!” The workshops cost £5. Call 07775 712306.
