Police are investigating reports of a possible shooting in Sheerness.
Officers were called to a house in Ranelagh Road at 9.55pm last night after a member of the public reported hearing gunshots.
They discovered the upstairs and downstairs windows of the terraced property had been smashed.
A police spokesman said they are not ruling out the possibility the windows had been “shot-out”.
There are no reported injuries and inquiries are ongoing.
A neighbour, who wanted to remain anonymous, described hearing two “huge bangs” as she watched TV at her home at about 9.30pm.

“I looked out of the window and thought it was fireworks or a car going into the back of another car,” she said.
“I didn’t think anymore about it until my daughter phoned about two hours later and said ‘What’s all the commotion down your road?’

“I said I didn’t know what she was talking about, then I looked out of my window and saw two policemen walking backwards and forwards along the road.
“When I asked one of them what was going on, they said, ‘Don’t worry about it, it’s just a couple of windows have been smashed’.”
The neighbour said the road remained blocked off until about 3am when police left the address.
“This has always been such a nice road, there’s never been any bother,” she said.
A police car remained outside the house this morning. The windows have been boarded up.
