A 23-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man have died after separate road crashes which happened only a few miles apart.
The woman was killed when a silver Subaru car crashed in Brielle Way, Sheerness, at about 3am on Sunday. She was travelling in the rear of the car and died at the scene.
Kent Police say four people were in the vehicle. The front seat passenger, a 23-year-old local man, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital at Gillingham with suspected minor injuries.
Another rear seat passenger, a 23-year-old local woman, suffered an injury to her shoulder.
The 28-year-old driver of the car has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving. Prior to being interviewed he was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment to injuries to his knee.
The road was closed while police carried out an investigation at the scene. It was reopened at around 9.30am.

The other fatal crash, also on the Isle of Sheppey, happened late on Friday night when a silver Nissan Micra car overturned on a bend at Leysdown Road, Eastchurch, and careered into a field.
The male driver, from Minister, near Sheerness, was taken to the Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham with serious chest injuries and died in the early hours of Saturday morning. He was a married man with two children.
