Sightseers flocked to the beaches of Sheerness, Minster and Leysdown on Monday evening to see the world's biggest cargo ship sail past the Isle of Sheppey.
HMM Algeciras was on its way back to China after having completed its maiden voyage to Britain.
It arrived o n Sunday and after a brief stop at the DP World Gateway London terminal in Thurrock, Essex, the 400m (1,312ft) long and 61m (200ft) wide monster ship set sail again with a cargo of 24,000 containers.
Many people gathered along the coast from 7pm. The ship appeared at around 7.30pm and then sailed past the wreck of the Second World War American bomb ship as a lone paddle-boarder was exercising nearer the beach.
The SS Richard Montgomery sank in the middle of the Thames Estuary between the Island and Southend in August 1944 and still has explosives on board.
It was at least an hour before HMM Algeciras disappeared from sight along The Leas at Minster.
But those at the eastern end of the Island could watch a little longer as it sailed past the Maunsell sea forts and into the distance, lit up by the final rays of the setting sun.
The ship is owned by South Korean shipping company Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM).
