Dan Bradshaw has returned to Sheppey after back-to-back promotions at Chatham Town and boss Jack Midson knows the striker is hungry for more success.

Bradshaw joined Chats three years ago after finishing his last season at Sheppey with over 40 goals to his name.

He kept up that prolific form in Medway with 90 goals in 103 appearances - following The Ites into the Isthmian League as runners-up in the Southern Counties East Premier Division and then enjoying a title-winning season with the Chats.

Midson needed another striker after it became clear Warren Mfula would be leaving and jumped at the chance to get Bradshaw back to Holm Park.

“It is brilliant,” said Midson, on securing his man. “I got wind a while ago that he was leaving (Chatham). He is quite close to a few players that are already here like Richie Hamill and Danny Leonard and we all got our heads together and said ‘let’s go for it’.

“He’s a local boy, it didn’t take much convincing for him, it’s on his doorstep, he lives over the road, it is a club he loves.

“He’s pushing on into his 30s and he knows he hasn’t got loads of years left, he wants to come here for a few years ideally and finish off. He has goals in him which is brilliant.

“I am older than him but I know that I can still offer something and I know how hungry he is. He still has the talent and I don’t care how old he is, he will lift the fans and the football club and he will always get goals when he is playing games.

“We will look after him and keep him fit and he’s looking good.

“He has the stats and he has the link-up play as well that we need. He is a fox in the box, but he will drop deep when he has to, he is good in the air, good with the link-up play and that will complement some other players around him.

“He is a successful man but no doubt if he would have stayed at Sheppey he would have been part of the promotion as well.

“He’s a born winner, he has that experience as well, we have got a young squad and will continue to have a young squad but having someone with that experience who knows the club and has been around a few years already will help.”

Following his move back to Sheppey, Bradshaw said: “I’m looking forward to pre-season starting and once again pulling on that red and white shirt once more.

“We’ve got some great players here and there’s no reason why we cannot be pushing up the top of the league.”

Midson has also kept hold of attacking player Eddie Allsopp from last season’s squad. The forward mainly played in the role behind the striker i his 16 games last term and will hopefully link up well with Bradshaw when they take to the pitch.

The manager said: “He will play a big part for us next season and will only get better from what we have already seen from him last season.”
