Queenborough's Dave Jones faces a tough debut fight at York Hall on Saturday night.

Experienced Ugandan heavyweight Moses Matovu will be looking to ruin the boxer’s evening, but Jones says he is ready for him.

He said: “I’m going to give everything I’ve got and he’s going to be in for a tough time.

“This opportunity means everything to me and I have put a lot of work into it.

“I haven’t had time off, I’m always training and in the last few months, I’ve stepped it
up.”

Jones’ manager, Joe Elfidh, hopes to see a points win for his man at the Bethnal Green venue but knows it will be a hard fight.

He said: “He’s up against a lad who has been in the ring with a lot of people, including Hughie Fury – and he’s a tough kid. It will be a tough first fight and this kid can bang.”

Tickets are still available for the fight by calling 07774 759317.
