The head coach of the Jordan national rugby team is among the applicants hoping to fill the void at Sheppey next season.

Director of rugby Andy Hosken had admitted the time might be right to look further afield to replace departing Pete Olliver.

But even he was surprised to see just how far the club’s job advert had travelled.

He said: “We’ve had interest from two or three people in the county who are currently at other clubs, as well as the coach of Jordan, who also works in Vietnam for Saigon Rugby Club.

“We put the advert online and it’s been picked up by the masses.

“It could be time for someone to come in who has had no involvement with Sheppey before but we will assess all the applicants once the deadline closes.”

Sheppey were left looking for a new coach following the departure of Olliver, who is seeking a new challenge at Thanet.

The deadline for applications for the Sheppey post is Friday, June 7.
