Gavin Tait plans to make up for lost time when he returns to the ring.

The Sheppey light middleweight makes his comeback after almost three years out when he fights at the Coronet Theatre in London on Saturday.

He doesn’t know who he’ll be facing yet, but the 38-year-old is ready for his first bout since winning the Southern Area welterweight title against Chas Symonds in September
2011.

Work commitments have kept Tait out of action and news of his return has gone down well with Islanders who will follow him to Southwark.

He said: “Everyone loves a comeback, don’t they? I’m 38 now but I reckon I’ve got another two years in me.

“I did wonder how the interest would be after so long out but I’ve still got 100 people coming up to support me, which is great.

“I left off winning the Southern Area title, which was a British title eliminator, and it would be nice to get back to that level. I’d like to get on Prizefighter which would suit me and there’s a £32,000 prize."
