Sheppey United sign ex-Ramsgate and Dover defender Sinn’Kaye Christie and former Huddersfield and Trinidad & Tobago striker Daniel Carr

Darren Blackburn’s faith has been rewarded after Sheppey announced two new signings.

The Ites assistant boss said this week he was confident the right players would come their way after losing Connor Wilkins and Richie Hamill.

And they’ve got two in the bag with the arrival of defender Sinn’Kaye Christie and former international forward Daniel Carr.

Centre-half Christie, 26, played for Ramsgate and Dover last season and previously helped Haywards Heath to the Isthmian South East play-offs.

“He’s pacy and athletic, which are two very important assets at this level, and he’s decent on the ball,” Blackburn told Sheppey’s website.

“It took a few calls and a bit of nerve to hold out for him with other clubs keep making offers, that he obviously had to consider.

“But I felt he was worth waiting for and I am really pleased to have him on board.”

Striker Carr, 30, earned six caps for Trinidad & Tobago between 2019 and 2021.

The well-travelled frontman earned a move to Championship club Huddersfield from Dulwich Hamlet in his early days.

He’s also played in Sweden and Ireland and last season turned out for Sevenoaks and Welling.

“I’m extremely pleased to get Dan on board,” said Blackburn.

“His experience is hard to find at this level and he’s an intelligent forward who we hope can not only get his own share of goals but he’ll create space and opportunities for our other attacking players as well.”
