Bearsted and Sheppey United win promotion from the Kent Invicta League

Bearsted and Sheppey United have both been promoted from the Kent Invicta League.

The two promotion spots were confirmed on Wednesday night, despite Bearsted losing 2-0 at home to rivals APM.

Sheppey did not play on Wednesday - having beaten Eltham Palace 4-1 the previous night - but Glebe were crushed 4-1 at Gravesham Borough.

In addition, the league has decided that the result will stand from Glebe's game with AC London, which was abandoned in the 90th minute with Glebe losing 3-1.

It means leaders Bearsted are nine points clear of third-placed Glebe with two games remaining. Sheppey, in second, are two points behind Bearsted.

Fourth-placed Sutton Athletic, who did not apply for promotion, could yet gatecrash the league title party, however.

Sutton still have to play both Sheppey - who they host this weekend - and Bearsted, who they visit on April 30.

Bearsted are away to FC Elmstead this weekend while Sheppey finish their campaign at home to Bridon Ropes on April 30.
