Around £15,000 of mobile phones were stolen from a shop in the town centre during an early morning burglary.
Between midnight and 4.30am on Monday retailer CEX in The Forum shopping centre, Sittingbourne, was targeted by two men.
The duo smashed glass panels of the town centre shopping centre’s doors close to the car park and The Light cinema, before making their way into the centre and doing the same with the store’s doors and making off with the phones.
It’s thought around 30 phones, worth around £500 each, were taken during the burglary, which forced the shop to shut on the day.
One woman who works in the centre, but didn’t want to be named said: “It is a bit of shock really when I heard what happened.
“It all seemed a bit too easy and they got off with a lot of stuff by the sound of it. Hopefully the people involved are caught as soon as possible.”
Officers were called to the area at around 4.20am and searched the premises and nearby areas for the suspects, but nobody was found.
Police spokesman James Walker said: “Kent Police is investigating a report that a premises at the Forum Shopping Centre in Sittingbourne was burgled at around 4.20am.
“Damage was caused to an entrance door and a window and a quantity of phones are reported to have been stolen.
“Officers did attend and carried out a search of the area, in addition to seeking to obtain CCTV. At present no suspects have been identified and enquiries are ongoing.”
