People will gather tomorrow to remember those who have served in the armed forces.
A two-minute silence will be held at various locations in town and surrounding villages.
The main service will be held at the Sittingbourne war memorial, Central Avenue, at 10.45am and will be led by Pat Tatchell, chaplain to the Sittingbourne and Milton Branch of the Royal British Legion.
The address will be given by the Rev James Pettit, team vicar of Sittingbourne with Bobbing.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Swale, Cllr George Bobbin and his wife Brenda, will lay a wreath.
After the service the Mayor and a representative from The Royal British Legion will take the salute as the parade marches down the High Street to St Michael’s Church.
Other services and acts of remembrance will take place at the following places and times:
Church of St Peter and St Paul, Borden, 9.45am, the parish eucharist, followed by an Act of Remembrance at the war memorial, taken by Father John Lewis.
Church of St Bartholomew, Bobbing, 10.45am, an service of Remembrance led by Rev Sue Samson.
Church of St Mary the Virgin, Newington, 10.15am, service, followed by an Act of Remembrance at 11am, taken by the Rev Julian Staniforth.
Church of St Mary the Virgin, Upchurch, 10.15am, service of Remembrance taken by the Rev Jacky Davis with an Act of Remembrance at 11am.
Church of St Michael and All Angels, Hartlip, 10.30am, service and Act of Remembrance at 11am taken by Rev Ron Partridge.
St Margaret’s Church, Lower Halstow, 10.30am, service taken by Alan Swift.
All Saints Church, Iwade, 10.45am, service, with an Act of Remembrance at 11am, led by Captain Stephen Plumb.
Holy Trinity Church, Milton Regis, 10am, service taken by the Rev George Rogers.
All Saints Church, Murston, 10am, Lay Reader Heather Thompson will take the service followed by an Act of Remembrance at the war memorial outside the church at 11am.
St Giles Church, Tonge, 10.30am, service taken by Lay Reader Janet Beale.
St Peter and St Paul Church, Lynsted, 10.45am, the Rev Steve Lillicrap will officiate.
St Laurence Church, Bapchild, 10am for 10.30am, service by the Rev Lesley Jones.
Doddington and Newnham War Memorial, 3pm, with the Rev Richard Birch.
A small service will also be held at 11am on November 11 at the war memorial in Central Avenue, Sittingbourne.
A inscribed paving stone in memory of a First World War hero will unveiled this weekend.
Donald Dean was awarded the Victoria Cross, aged just 21, for his bravery during one of the final battles of the conflict in September 1918.
The slab will be dedicated in memory of him during a ceremony at 2.30pm. It will be followed by a parade into the High Street.
Mr Dean’s daughter, Susan Bavin, will attend, along with other dignitaries including the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Kent, Richard Oldfield.
The stone is one of 628 to be placed at the birthplaces of VC recipients from the conflict.
Although Mr Dean was born in Surrey in 1897 he had strong links with Sittingbourne and when war broke out he was living with his parents and brothers at Waldenecorr House in Tunstall. His relatives were also linked to the local brick-making business Smeed Dean.
