The air ambulance was called to the scene of a nasty crash between a car and a cyclist.

The incident occurred in Bapchild on the A2 London Road between Teynham and Sittingbourne.

Police were called at 6.40pm to a report of a collision near the junction with Hempstead Lane, Tonge.

Officers attended along with paramedics and the air ambulance.

The road was closed in both directions.

Residents reported the crash looked "horrible".

Google Maps showed traffic had come to a standstill near Hempstead House Hotel.
