A paramedic suffered a back injury after a car which was travelling the wrong way along Sittingbourne High Street crashed into an ambulance.
Police closed the one-way road to traffic after they were called to the incident which happened close to the NatWest at around 9pm on Friday.
It is understood the stationary ambulance was hit by a white Volkswagen Golf while attending an emergency at a private address in the High Street. The road was reopened at 10.15pm.
Two men were arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
An ambulance service spokesman said: "Another ambulance was sent to the scene and a patient was taken to hospital for the original reason of their call.
"One member of staff suffered lower back pain as a result of the collision. They did not require hospital treatment."
A 23-year-old Sittingbourne man, charged with dangerous driving, is due to appear at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on August 30. A man arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle, was released without charge.
