Armed police swoop after operation in Eveas Drive, Great East Hall, Sittingbourne

Armed police were spotted on a Sittingbourne housing estate in an early morning operation today.

Officers with guns were seen in Eveas Drive, Great East Hall, at about 6.30am.

Armed police closed off parts of the estate

The police action, which is understood to have taken place at the request of a force outside the county. saw parts of the estate blocked off.

A resident said: "Due to roadworks on one end of the circular route of the estate, most residents were unable to leave whilst this was on-going."
