Sittingbourne driver arrested after being four times drink drive limit

A driver was arrested after being caught four times the drink drive limit.

Police officers witnessed the motorist mounting a kerb while patrolling Avenue of Remembrance, Sittingbourne, at around 9pm last night.

The individual was tested at the side of the road and gave a reading of 155. The legal limit is 35.

They were arrested with police saying he will be charged and "a court appearance will be booked".

A spokesman for the force said: "At around 8.55pm on Thursday officers on a proactive patrol of Sittingbourne reported observing a car being poorly driven in Avenue of Remembrance.

"The vehicle was subsequently pulled over and a 55-year-old man from Sittingbourne was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

"He remains in custody as enquiries continue."
