Sittingbourne man arrested after young girls told to ‘lift up their skirts’ near park near Balas Drive and Sonora Way

A man has been charged after two schoolgirls were allegedly told to "lift up their skirt” and expose themselves.

Now, the concerned mum, whose 10-year-old daughter and friend were approached at the park, is urging other parents to stay vigilant.

It comes after the young girls were approached in Balas Driver, near Sonora Way, at around 3.45pm on Tuesday.

Since the incident, Ben Murphy, 30, of Raite Green, Sittingbourne, has been charged with causing a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

A police spokesman added: “Mr Murphy appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, March 8.”

People in Sonora Way, Sunstone Drive or Balas Drive with cameras are being asked to check footage from around 3.45pm and send any helpful footage to police.
