Grandad Kevin Overy says he has been frozen out of Iceland for telling staff to open more tills.
The outspoken 60-year-old stormed: "They've banned me for speaking my mind. I was only telling it like it was. I asked if they had anyone else to open another till but the woman just glared at me.
"I know I can be a bit outspoken but I’m not happy about this. They have accused me of causing trouble.
"When I returned to the store the same member of staff glared at me again because, I believe, I had spoken up.
"Other members told me to call the free customer services line and when I did I was told the shop had banned me and didn’t want me.
"What do they want me to do, walk around with Sellotape across my mouth?"
"What do they want me to do, walk around with Sellotape across my mouth?" - Kevin Overy
Trouble started when Mr Overy, a former block-paver who is off work after a series of
health problems, was in a queue at the Sittingbourne High Street store.
He fumed: "I only had two items, a tin of Coffee-Mate for my wife Pat and some cheese. I asked if there was anyone else to open a till. The girl on the till rang for help but no one came.
"She said they didn’t have enough staff but that’s not my problem. They say I always moan. But the fact is, they don’t have enough tills open, especially at lunch time. It’s not rocket science. Now I’ll have to go to Sainsbury’s, Aldi or Morrisons. But they don’t sell CoffeeMate."
The shop has confirmed Mr Overy, of Tonge Road, Murston, has been banned.
An Iceland spokesman said: "We do not tolerate verbal abuse or threatening behaviour towards our staff and this was the reason for asking the customer to leave the store and not to return."
