Suspected shoplifters at Boots in Chatham and Poundland in Gillingham charged

Medication from a chemist and hair and beauty products from a discount shop are some of the products stolen by suspected thieves who have now been charged by police.

The medication was reported stolen from behind a counter at Boots the Chemist in The Pentagon Centre, Chatham on July 10.

Robert Excel, of College Road, Sittingbourne, was arrested two days later and charged with theft.

Hair and beauty products were stolen from Poundland in Gillingham High Street on July 12.

Frank Smith, of no fixed address, was charged with theft and remanded in custody until his next hearing.

Lee Swift, of High Street, Chatham, was charged with two thefts on the same day after shops were allegedly targeted in Chatham town centre.

Excel, 41, Smith, 52 and Swift, 46, all appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on July 13 and were remanded in custody. Smith is due to return to court on October 8, Excel on July 19 and Swift on October 10.
