Brave Phoebe Tamcken, from Sittingbourne, gets her Disney dream

A little girl’s wish was granted by a national charity which works to make sick children’s dreams come true.

Phoebe Tamcken, whose parents Rachael and Paul live in Walsby Drive, Sittingbourne, was just six weeks old when she was diagnosed with Hirsch-sprung’s disease – a bowel disorder affecting around one in every 25,000 girls and one in every 5,000 boys.

As a result of her condition, the four-year-old, who attends Regis Manor Primary School, has battled through a number of operations and having an ileostomy, which diverts waste through an opening in her stomach.

Recently, The Starlight Children’s Foundation organised a trip of a lifetime to Disneyland Paris for Phoebe, her parents and brother Liam.

The family travelled to the French capital in style on Eurostar and were booked in for two nights in the luxurious Sequoia Lodge overlooking Lake Disney.

Rachael said the highlight of the holiday was her daughter meeting the Disney princesses: “She was so overjoyed and couldn’t believe she was actually meeting a real princess; I will never forget that moment.

“Phoebe is a fighter. She suffered a cardiac arrest at three weeks old, but she refused to give up and has been battling since then.

“She’s a bubbly little girl who just keeps on smiling.”

As well as granting wishes for thousands of children every year, The Starlight Foundation also organises entertainment and parties for youngsters in hospitals and hospices across the country.
