A desperate bride-to-be is pleading for help as she urgently tries to arrange her wedding after finding out her future mother-in-law has been given just a year to live.

SarahLou Wolfie has been with her partner Les Madden since November 2019 and the pair were planning to get married in three years.

However they received the devastating news last week that Les’s mum Pauline, 59, was diagnosed with aggressive terminal lung cancer and doctors think she has around 12 months to live.

Now SarahLou, of Milbourne Grove, Sittingbourne, is frantically trying to pull together a wedding so the pair can spend the special day with Pauline.

The 37-year-old said: “The original plan was to get married in a few years but we got the heartbreaking news last week and we would love for her to be part of the big day, especially now before she gets too sick.

“We have nothing for a wedding at the moment - no dress, venue, date, but have always wanted something very low key.

“We’ve tried a load of places so far but have been told because it isn’t myself or my partner who is terminally ill that they can’t help.

"We would happily have a registry office with just our immediate family, we don’t even want a reception as that’s something we’d sort ourselves when we feel the time is right.”

Les, 39, is currently living in London with his mum as he balances work with caring for her.

SarahLou added: “We simply want to be able to get married while she is here to see it.

"It wouldn’t even matter to us if it was more of a blessing and not legally binding as we could always have a proper wedding in a few years like we originally planned.”
