A bus stop has been installed outside the Garden of England Crematorium at Bobbing after a lengthy campaign.

Kent County Council commissioned the work after being approached by former Lib Dem Swale and county councillor Elvie Lowe.

The crematorium, in Sheppey Way, was on a bus route but there was no stop nearby, making it difficult to reach without a long walk.

Mrs Lowe said: “It started about three years ago when I met someone whose mum doesn’t drive and wanted to go and pay their respects and couldn’t do so.

“I am sure they’re not the only one, so I’m thrilled it has gone in.”
