A disgusted mum has claimed her son was left feeling ill for days after being served raw chicken from a fish and chip shop.
On Friday, January 13, Chantel Cooper's son Louie, 3, told her "mummy, there's blood" when he started eating the £6.70 chicken and chips meal from Chaucer Fish Bar in Sittingbourne.
Chantel, 24, claims the food from the Chaucer Road shop was still bleeding and "even smelt raw".
"I couldn't believe it," the Homewood Avenue resident said.
"My aunt went and got the food as it's just round the corner from us and it looked absolutely fine.
"After my son had a few bites he came over to me and said 'mummy, there's blood'.
"Then I saw it myself and felt physically sick. I started crying as I couldn't stop thinking how my innocent little boy was going to get unwell within a few hours."
Chantel says Louie had to miss two days of nursery due to severe stomach pains caused by the food.
She marched down to the fish bar to show them the raw food and demand a refund, but claims the worker she spoke to "shrugged his shoulders" and offered her another piece of chicken.
Chantel added: "I refused and demanded my money back and he didn't offer one until I asked for it.
"They won't ever have my custom again, nor my family or friends."
The Sittingbourne mum says she is reporting the takeaway to Swale council and Environmental Health.
A second man from the town, who didn't want to be named, reported being given a raw beef burger on January 4.
The 20-year-old said: "I rang them up and told them the burger was pink and they sent out another one, but it looked exactly the same so I decided to throw the food in the bin.
"The Chaucer Road chip shop has put me off from ordering there again."
Peter Singh, who has owned the fish bar for 20 years, says the chicken was the only one in the batch to be bloody.
He said: "The chicken was cooked at the normal temperature and time but had one bloody piece.
"People came in shouting at us and I apologised and said I was very sorry and they accepted a refund.
"We're only humans.
"Sometimes things like this happen. I've been her for 20 years and and never had anything wrong."
