Tesco, Canterbury Road, Sittingbourne, donates cash to Bobbing's Demelza Hospice Care for Children

A new convenience store celebrated its launch with a donation to charity.

Staff at Tesco Express, Canterbury Road, Sittingbourne, gave £500 to Demelza Hospice Care for Children, which has a facility in Rook Lane, Bobbing.

The money was presented by manager Jason Butterfield to community fundraiser Hannah Shotton, who also cut a ribbon and declared the shop officially open last Tuesday .

She said: “I would like to thank Tesco for this generous donation.

“With help and support from the local community, Demelza can continue to provide the best possible care for the children in our care.”

Mr Butterfield said: “We are delighted to support Demelza as it is a great charity which carries out such invaluable work in the community.”

He added that their had been a positive response to the store, and said: “My staff and I want to make this a local store for local people, and aim to give our customers fantastic service and prices.”

The store opening hours are 6am to 11pm, seven days a week.
