A passenger attacked by a gang of women in a brutal road rage said she thought she was going to die.

The woman and a male driver were set upon as they stopped at traffic lights near Morrisons supermarket in Mill Way, Sittingbourne, after overtaking a black Range Rover.

The Range Rover started flashing its lights and sounding its horn.

But as the 26-year-old driver and his 27-year-old passenger - both from Sheerness - pulled over, the 4x4 rammed the back of the car.

Then a group of women got out of the Range Rover and started hitting the pair in the Audi.

A large white vehicle, possibly a Toyota, then pulled up in front of the Audi, stopping it from getting away.

Two men got out and reportedly smashed the windscreen of the vehicle before repeatedly punching the driver in the face.

Two 17-year-old girls and an 18-year-old woman were arrested in connection with the assault and their vehicle was seized and examined for forensic evidence.

The attack happened just after Cooks Lane, near Asda, between 7.40pm and 7.45pm last Friday.

The teenagers, who are from Queenborough and Sittingbourne, have been bailed pending further enquiries until February 25.

It’s estimated around £200 worth of damage was caused to the car.

Investigating officer Sgt Jason Hedges said: “This assault left the victims terrified. In her statement the female said she thought she was going to die.

“We do know there were a number of motorists who may have witnessed the attack and we would like to hear from them so we can move the investigation forward. If you can help, please contact Kent Police.”
