A dispersal order has been put in place across a town centre for the weekend.

It comes after concerns from residents and business owners in Sittingbourne over incidents of antisocial behaviour.

The dispersal order covers areas in Sittingbourne, including the High Street

The enforcement started at 2pm today and will run until 10pm on Sunday (August 11).

It will cover the High Street, East Street, Roman Square, the Avenue of Remembrance, William Street, Grafton Road and The Butts.

The section of the A2 that passes through the town will also be included, along with Milton Road and Fountain Street.

A dispersal order gives officers additional powers to move on anyone causing a nuisance and if necessary arrest those who return to the area.

Insp Vanessa Foster said: “We are committed to ensuring residents and visitors feel safe when out and about and we will not tolerate intimidating or disorderly behaviour.
